Hi everyone! My name is Zach McCabe and I was just asked to become a contributing Editor/Writer for FutureFetus.com. I’ve had a long working relationship with the existing editors of the site and I’m slowly becoming a regular FutureFetus reader as well. But those aren’t the only reasons I accepted the new post here. To know those reasons you must first get to know me. Listen and we will understand together.
I’ve been experimenting with prose fiction and poetry for the past seven years without ever considering the idea of writing for a website. Sue me. But I’ve become known for the stories and poetry I write, the books I read, and even the everyday conversations I have dealing with the hunt for the answer to who people really are and how they should live with one another. What I have come to realize now is that in its own off the wall sort of way, FutureFetus.com is really tackling the same sorts of questions.
I ran into Scribe the Verbalist recently at Royale Coffee Shop in the village to talk about work for his upcoming album. But instead of talking music, we got into a really interesting chat about the future of art, music, education and, it felt like, just about everything else. To tell you the truth, I thought we would just be sipping yerba mate and hoping things would get better. Instead, the conversation was furiously optimistic. We were throwing around Transcendentalist and Zen philosophy, Early Christian theory, Islamic poetry, the whole nine. Essentially, we were attempting to articulate this almost inexpressible notion that we were both feeling. To quote Scribe, “something new and excellent is coming and we have to show it to them”. The conversation was mind-blowing! It was even more humbling to know that he wanted me to be apart of his project to accomplish this. Oh yeah, and the tea was awesome!
So, to make a long story long, I finished my beverage and signed on the dotted line as a FutureFeeder and Editor for Futurefetus.com. But in the spirit of Future-style expression, I figured I’d try out some media that are kind of new for me. I’ll definitely still be writing some articles, but more often, I’ll be asking questions. I’ll let the real geniuses talk for a change while you and I just sit back and enjoy the show. We’ve got some pretty cool video interviews lined up for the next few weeks. I think you’ll get a kick out of the GraphicArticle Project as well (what’s that, you ask? You’ll see and you’ll love it!). Essentially, I’ll be doing my best to expose you to the words and thoughts of some of the great creative thinkers, not just of our Time, but of the Future. Prepare your wombs people…
Oh, and as a side note, I’ve been invited to a FutureFetus launch party at the Living Room @Kabin on Friday night, well… tonight. If any readers or friends feel like stopping by, just head to Kabin on second avenue and fifth street. when you get to the living room in the back, tell ‘em Zach Mccabe sent you!
